German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) is developing the platform, application and autonomous system and augmented reality. SmartFactoryKL initiated by DFKI carried out the researches of whole life cycle for applying AI into production system. This presentation includes the core research of AI and its applications to smart factory.
1) Data collection is improved via digital twins represented by standardized data.
2) Multi-sensor and multi-station data processing is carried out in edge and cloud services.
3) Augmented reality has been applied to manual workers of assembly station and maintenance tasks.
Those methods are implemented by several EU funded projects and industrial projects with 49 consortium partners of SmartFactoryKL.
Presenter: Jumyung Um, Ph.D., from Technologie-Initiative SmartFactory KL at DFKI, Germany
Bio: Dr. Um received a Ph.D. from the department of Industrial Engineering at POSTECH in 2012. He had held postdoc positions at EPFL in Switzerland, University of Cambridge, and Ecole Centrale de Nantes. He's been at DFKI since Mar 2016. His research interests include smart factory, industry 4.0, augmented reality in production line, 3D printing/scanning, and deep learning applications in manufacturing processes.
